Vision & Mission
To establish a model performing arts academy in East Los Angeles for all students interested in the arts, who will achieve at high levels in the classroom, performance, and prepare students for success in college and professions.
The mission of the East Los Angeles Performing Arts Academy is to develop creative, contributing members of society through a standards-based curriculum featuring rigorous interdisciplinary instruction that is rich in the performing arts, and by working with community and media & entertainment industry leaders to give our students the experience necessary to achieve our vision.
In our efforts to make testing as positive an experience as possible, English Language Development classes will be using Kagan Strategies to enhance reading/writing skill acquisition through collaboration. Though not really a radically new idea, testing throughout the District will be shifting from a paper-and-pencil approach to a more cutting edge collaborative model where students work in teams to develop their reading/writing skills (socialized intelligence). Use of online resources prepares our students for the job force of the 21st Century.
